Complete with compliant thumb turns, this new build basement received stylish bicycle and storage units with locks fit for the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bike Storage Company was tasked to design and build bespoke cycle lockers, which doubled as storage units for a new build development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This East London project required:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>High quality, UK-made bespoke locks.<\/li><li>Lock dimensions fit to accommodate the unique framework of the units.<\/li><li>Internal thumb turns to meet safety requirements.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-gatemaster-solution\"><br>The Gatemaster Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The lock chosen was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatemasterlocks.com\/en-us\/product\/superlock-bolt-on-latch-deadlock\/\">Superlock Latch Deadlock (BLD)<\/a>, which uses a single latch bolt capable of latching and deadlocking for extra security. To accommodate safety requirements, the locks needed thumb turn cylinders, which were compliant with British Standard EN 1303.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#497f85\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Using the Superlock was the correct decision from the start.<br>Gatemaster were very accommodating and supportive throughout the process. We achieved delivery of a fairly bespoke lock with a short lead time and high-quality finish.<br>We have now expanded Gatemaster&#8217;s offering throughout our range and their products are available as a high-quality solution for external ironmongery.\u00a0<\/mark><\/p><p><\/p><cite>Alastair Worlidge, Director, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebikestoragecompany.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Bike Storage Company<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The S<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatemasterlocks.com\/en-us\/product\/superlock-bolt-on-latch-deadlock\/\">uperlock BLD<\/a> was chosen as it fulfilled the specifications for the following reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Flush fitting: The BLD fit into the design as the steel infill material needed to sit flush on the face of the lock.<\/li><li>Easy to install: The 1&#8243; steel door had a plate welded on, which allowed the BLD to be bolted on easily.<\/li><li>Conformity: The BLD was altered specifically for this project to fit the BS EN 1303 compliant thumb turns.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The bespoke locks were finished in RAL 7016 (Grey) powder coating done in-house at our UK production facility with the colour matching the design of the units.
