FAQ's for Weld-in Locks
What is a weld-in lock?
A weld-in lock is permanently welded into metal gates to provide increased security and give the gate a seamless finish. The lock is integrated into the gate’s structure making it more robust and difficult to tamper with.
What is the difference between the latch deadlock and a keylatch?
Here’s how they work:
Deadlock – Locks and unlocks with a key only. The bolt stays put until you turn the key, providing a high level of security.
Latch – Closes when you push the gate shut, but doesn’t lock. Anyone can open it from either side using the handle. Convenient for areas that don’t need security.
Keylatch – Closes and locks automatically when you push the gate shut. You’ll need a key to open it. Security without having to remember to lock it.
Latch Deadlock (combination) – Featuring a handle it gives you both options. The gate closes automatically but stays unlocked until you turn the key. Once locked, it works like a deadlock. Our BLD bolt-on gate lock is a popular choice.
How do you weld a lock?
A weld-in gate lock essentially consists of a weldable box and an internal lock mechanism. The weldable box has been prepared to fit the lock mechanism, which can be installed after the lock has been welded.
